MyClosedBook (“we”, “us”, or “the app”) is a private legacy platform that helps you record, preserve, and selectively share your wisdom, voice, videos, and life moments with the people you choose. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

By creating an account or using the app, you agree to the practices described here.

Information We Collect

Account information: your name, email address, profile photo, and optional profile details such as bio, location, birthdate, contact email, and life philosophy.

Content you create: wisdom entries, written text, photos, videos, audio and voice recordings, voice-over scripts, “Gems”, journal moments, folders, funeral plans, special dates, trusted contacts, legacy verifications, and any other memories you choose to store.

Voice samples: audio recordings you provide to create a memorial voice clone of yourself.

Usage & device data: basic analytics, app interactions, and technical details needed to provide and secure the service.

How We Use Your Information

• To store, organize, and preserve your legacy content as you direct.
• To share memories with the recipients you choose, on the dates and conditions you set, using access codes you control.
• To create a memorial voice clone from your audio samples so loved ones can hear you speak again.
• To power “Ask Anything AI” and other AI features that answer questions using your stored content.
• To notify trusted contacts or verifying agencies (such as funeral homes or officials) when you have authorized them.
• To operate, maintain, secure, and improve the app.

How We Share Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as follows:

• As you direct: through private shared links (protected by access codes), to trusted contacts you add, and to verifying agencies you authorize.
• Service providers: trusted processors that help run the app, including hosting (Base44), voice cloning and text-to-speech (ElevenLabs), AI language models (such as OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google), the Spotify embed for your soundtrack, and sign-in providers (such as Google). These providers process data only to deliver their service to us.
• Legal obligations: if required by law, court order, or to protect rights and safety.

Voice Cloning & AI

When you choose to create a memorial voice, your audio samples are sent to ElevenLabs to generate a voice clone. You control whether this feature is used, and your voice clone is only used within the app to speak the words you or your recipients request. AI question-answering features use language-model providers that may receive portions of your content as needed to generate a response.

Data Retention

We keep your content for as long as your account is active. Shared links remain available according to the release schedule and “continue after passing” settings you configure. You can delete individual memories or your entire account at any time; deletion removes your stored content and is irreversible.

Your Rights & Choices

• Access & update: view and edit your profile and content anytime in the app.
• Delete: remove individual entries or delete your whole account under Settings. Account deletion erases your wisdom, videos, voice samples, and shared links.
• Export: download a backup or a printable Legacy Book of your content.
• Control sharing: revoke shared links, manage trusted contacts, and change release dates at any time.
• Withdraw consent: stop using voice cloning or AI features at any time by removing the related content.

Security

We use encryption in transit, access controls, and row-level permissions to keep your data private. Shared links are protected by access codes you generate. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your legacy and act promptly if an issue arises.

Children

MyClosedBook is not intended for children under 13 (or the minimum age in your region). We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. We will note the effective date above and, for material changes, notify you within the app.
